About APRAV

The Association for the Protection of Road Accident Victims (APRAV) is a non-profit human rights organisation dedicated to protecting the rights of South Africans affected by road accidents.

Our Mission

To safeguard the rights of road accident victims.
To advocate for fair and just compensation for those injured in road accidents.
To promote and facilitate transformative solutions for a more equitable and sustainable Road Accident Fund in South Africa.

Our Story

APRAV was formed in 2014 by a group of concerned professionals in response to the proposed Road Accident Benefit Scheme (RABS) Bill. Recognising the significant shortcomings and potential negative impact of the RABS Bill on road accident victims, APRAV took action.

Through extensive research, advocacy, and collaboration with stakeholders, APRAV successfully highlighted the pitfalls of the proposed scheme and played a crucial role in preventing its implementation.

Today, APRAV continues to champion the rights of road accident victims by:

  • Monitoring developments in road accident legislation and policy.
  • Advocating for improvements to the Road Accident Fund (RAF) to ensure it operates as a centre of excellence.
  • Keeping the legal fraternity up to date with current events and encouraging collaboration to work for a common goal.

APRAV is committed to ensuring that all South Africans affected by road accidents receive the timeous justice and support they deserve.

Justice on the Road.
